    Scholarship Opportunities In Canada

Over time Canada has become one of the countries with the most eminent educational facilities. This is why hundreds of students travel to the country every year to fulfil their dreams of Studying Abroad.

Honestly, it is a lot more cost-effective as well. It is true, at least in comparison to many other countries offering vacancies to international students. But still, the overall cost of tutoring, food and lodging can be a bit expensive for many. This is why the country provides several scholarship opportunities for deserving students.

Here in this blog, I will be telling you about all these programs. But before that, you should be fully convinced whether you want to go to Canada or not. To help you make the decision, below mentioned are a few significant pieces of information about education in Canada.

Keep reading to get all the details. But do not forget to take note of the essential information.

    Why Study In Canada?

    • Canada has 96 universities spread across its urban and regional areas, the majority of which welcome international students. One unique feature of Canada is that it has two national languages – English in most of the west and French in the eastern province of Quebec, as you may already know. So if you want to broaden your horizons as an English or French-speaking student, Canada is the place to be!
    • Canadians and international students alike embrace what some see as a burden as a source of purity, generosity, and exceptional higher education standards, from the sturdy mountainous regions of British Columbia to vast underground shopping areas linked to subway stations.
    • The Canadian people are known to be a very friendly bunch. Moreover, along with a plethora of incentives to Study In Canada as an international, the country is constantly on the brink of social systems and technology, making it very accommodating to the open-minded nature of students studying abroad.

    Top Universities In Canada

Every year, approximately 572,000 international students come to Canada to study in fields ranging from computer science and information technology to media and journalism, agricultural science and forestry, and business and finance. You will undoubtedly find the ideal degree for you!

Canada also has over 150 colleges offering short courses and diplomas. You might come across one that is ideal for your goals.

Here is a list of top universities for you –

    • University of Toronto
    • McGill University
    • University of British Columbia
    • Université de Montréal
    • University of Waterloo
    • University of Alberta
    • McMaster University
    • Western University
    • Queen’s University
    • University of Calgary

    Course Fees In Canada

If you haven’t already guessed, studying in Canada as an international student is generally much less expensive than studying in the United Kingdom, the United States, or Australia!

Costs vary greatly depending on the institution, but undergraduate programs typically cost between CA$20,000 and CA$30,000 per year. Postgraduate programs are typically less expensive (around CA$16,000/year), whereas executive MBA programs are typically more expensive (CA$30,000/year).

The cost of living varies greatly depending on your spending habits and whether you live in a big city. To obtain a student visa, you must have at least CA$10,000 saved up for living expenses per year, though most universities recommend having closer to CA$15,000.

    How To Apply?

Budgeting for unexpected costs, such as winter clothing and supplies, is always a good idea.

The application process varies by institution, but you will need to demonstrate your language proficiency, provide transcripts from previous education, demonstrate financial stability, and provide proof of medical coverage. Making sure you meet all of the requirements for the institution where you want to apply is a critical step in avoiding future problems.

You will be asked to select a major when applying to most universities. Don’t be concerned if you’re not sure what this is. Canadian universities are generally quite accommodating when it comes to changing majors later in life.

Designated learning institutes are schools that have been approved by a provincial or territorial government to accept international students. Make certain that you are applying to a school on this list.

    The Scholarship Programs In Canada

Here is a list of scholarships available in Canada:

    • Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships

The Chancellor’s Scholarship, the Richard Lewar Entrance Scholarship, the Carleton University Scholarship of Excellence, and the Carleton University SHAD Scholarship are worth between CAD 20,000 and 30,000, respectively. In contrast, the Riordan and the Collins Prestige scholarships cover full tuition fees for four years.

    • Calgary International Entrance Scholarships

The University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship is a prestigious award that recognises international students’ outstanding achievements as they begin their undergraduate studies at the University. The total cost of the undergraduate programme is $60,000 over four years.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) programme was established to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher education. • University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships

The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) is a merit-based award available to students of any nationality enrolled as full-time graduate students (Master’s or PhD) at the University of Manitoba. • Doctoral Scholarships from the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation

The scholarships are available to foreign nationals (with a preference for candidates from the developing world) who are applying to or enrolled full-time in a doctoral programme in the social sciences and humanities at a Canadian university. It is worth up to $60,000 per scholar per year for a maximum of three years.

    • Master’s Awards of Excellence at the University of Waterloo

The International Master’s Award of Excellence (IMAE) will be given to eligible international Master’s students who are about to start a research-based graduate programme at the University of Waterloo. The award will be worth $2,500 per term for a total of five terms.

    • University of Calgary Graduate Awards

The University of Calgary provides a variety of full and partial scholarships to international students. Scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $40,000 and cover a variety of fields of study.

Another significant advantage of studying in Canada is that some provinces provide free health insurance to international students! The most important thing to check here is what the health insurance covers, as this varies greatly between provinces.

If you intend to study in a province that does not provide free health insurance, you must make your own arrangements when applying for your student visa.

Remember that whether you buy health insurance or apply for free health insurance, timing is everything! Some coverage is not available as soon as you reach Canada. Be careful about this and check this out during your research.
