Making a cauldron is an easy process that can be done in just five steps. Make sure to collect all the materials required before you begin, as they cannot be crafted and are entirely found out in the world.
First step
Materials:
- Three iron ingots or one gold ingot
- One water bucket
- Three cobblestone blocks
To begin, open your inventory and place the three iron ingots in a vertical line. Then, place the one water bucket below them in a horizontal line. Finally, you’ll need to remember three cobblestone blocks on top of the iron and water arrangement. They should all stack up.
Second step
Next, you’ll see the Cauldron’s inventory space transform, and you can begin placing items in it. Although their functions won’t be available quite yet, you should keep the following 2×2 crafting grid full of your most common ingredients.
Third step
Now that you have all the materials collected and the Cauldron crafted, you’ll need to place it on a 3×3 square of flat land. Once the Cauldron is placed, right-click it, and it will fill up with water.
Place your furnace anywhere in the empty spaces below the crafting grid.
Fourth step
Once that’s done, open your inventory and place the Cauldron underneath your furnace. Then, place the stove anywhere in the empty spaces below the crafting grid. Finally, right-click on each of these three blocks (the furnace, anvil, and chest) to orient them correctly.
Fifth step
Once that’s done, you can upgrade or repair any of these items in your inventory with the same material place it in the same way you did in step six. The Cauldron’s inventory space won’t update until you right-click on it, but after that, every single item below the Cauldron will be available for use.
Sixth step
You can now add or remove items from the Cauldron’s inventory space by right-clicking it. You can also click on any of these items to grab or drop them from your inventory, not just from the Cauldron. If you pick up this stack of buckets and place them in a furnace, they’ll turn into cobblestone blocks.
Seventh step
And that’s all there is to crafting a cauldron! Although it may be confusing at first, once you get used to using a cauldron, it will provide a lot more convenience than a standard 2×2 grid would. Plus, it looks fantastic sitting next to your furnace while its water slowly boils away! If you follow these steps correctly step after step, and then congratulations, you now have your very own Cauldron.

Usage of Cauldron
The Cauldron in Minecraft can be used for many things such as:
- Storage of substances
- Removing dye from items
- Extinguishing fire and much more
Storage of substances
To use a cauldron, you must first pick it up with an empty hand, then right-click the side of the block that has the water inside, and you will see it begins to fill up. Then you may right-click the Cauldron again, and it will pour out the water onto whatever you have clicked. If what you have related is a valid location for water to go, then.
Another thing you can do with a cauldron is storage. When you store your coal or other items in containers, they won’t stack because of their different but tags, but now if you put two of the same things into a cauldron, it will combine them and make one full-stack. This is very useful for when you are mining diamonds and suddenly realize that you haven’t enough space in your inventory to fit them all. You can take some out and place them into the Cauldron, then grab more which saves lots of time.
However, there are many things to remember about using this block. Whatever fills it first is what it pours whenever you click on something, so for example, if you put water into it first, and then lava, when you click on a cactus, it will pour the lava out.
Extinguishing fire
It will also extinguish fires, which can be very useful during certain situations, such as having a farm with lava underneath it to burn any spawn mobs.
Water source
Sometimes you have a cauldron, but you realize you also need a water source to fill it up, no problem. All you have to do is punch a cactus, and it will be destroyed, and the block next to the Cauldron will turn into a water source block. This can be very useful as well because now it saves your time from finding another water source.
Cauldron usage as a profession
This block can also be used as a profession, and many people like to make money by selling cauldrons at their local store for other players to stock up on generic materials. You could also buy or sell cauldrons to other players or use them yourself for different purposes.
