Ruby on Rails is an amazing web development framework written in the Ruby programming language by David Heinemeier Hansson and first released to the public in July 2005. It took the development world by storm and became the top framework used in web app development within just months of its release. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the reasons why RoR was so revolutionary, as well as why it continues to be so useful today.

    1) 100% Object Oriented

As we mentioned earlier, RoR is a full-fledged object-oriented programming language. It has everything you’d expect from an OOP language: classes, modules, and metaprogramming to name a few. This allows you to design your entire application in terms of objects and their respective interactions with one another.

    2) MVC Structure

Whether you’re new to development or an experienced pro, one of your first questions may be Why use RoR? The answer lies in its foundational programming model. RoR utilizes a Model-View-Controller (MVC) structure, which separates web application code into three different functional areas: models, views and controllers. Each of these parts can be controlled by developers without affecting other sections of code, making it easier for teams to work together more efficiently.

    3) Open Source Software

The source code of RoR and many other open-source applications are accessible to programmers around the globe. That means you have access to millions of lines of code that could solve many problems before you run into them yourself.

    4) Huge Community Support

RoR has over 500,000 developers who are more than willing to help with any issues you may be facing. This means that if you run into problems while developing your app, there’s a huge support network of people out there who can help you. It also means you can get answers to almost any question you have regarding RoR – even ones that have not been answered yet! There’s no better time to start working with RoR than right now.

    5) Clean Code

Programming languages are like instruments. They’re designed to produce notes; it’s up to you to play them right. Like a guitarist who doesn’t know how to tune his guitar, a programmer who can’t write clean code will sound awful no matter what language they use.

    6) Easy to Learn & Maintain

Compared to other frameworks and programming languages, it’s easier to learn and maintain. This means that you can get started with RoR faster while having a smaller learning curve.

    7) UI Designers Can Easily Code in RoR

For a long time, UI designers needed to know both languages in order to build apps. But now, thanks to RoR’s unique design (called HAML) it’s become easier for non-coders to code in RoR than ever before.

    8) You Don’t Need A Big Budget To Learn RoR

It’s true that you can’t learn RoR without working with it and practicing it. However, you don’t need a huge budget to do so. There are tons of free resources on how to learn RoR and there are even many great books that teach you RoR for free (on Scribd and other sites). You just have to take action!

    9) Your Competitors Probably Use RoR

It’s safe to say that RoR is one of, if not, the most popular web development framework out there. In fact, its status as a leader in web programming means that many of your competitors are likely already using it or have plans to use it soon. Choosing RoR as your web framework ensures that you’re playing by similar rules as everyone else in your industry and allows you to learn from their experiences (and mistakes). Because of its wide reach, Rails has been proven and tested.

    10) SEO Friendly

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an integral part of web development. Search engines are where most people go to find what they’re looking for, and thus having your website in a prominent position on search engine results pages (SERPs) can be very valuable. For business, SEO is often more important than social media marketing—or at least just as important—for driving targeted traffic to your company’s website.

    Conclusion –

RoR lets you build powerful applications at record speeds, which makes it well suited for startups and software companies. Additionally, since RoR has an active community and enjoys a large following from developers worldwide, there’s no reason not to hire a Ruby on Rails development company.
